One child is just, by temperament, rather careless. Careless with how she swings her limbs, how she picks things up, … yada, yada.

And I realized today,

After harping at this child for dropping tea bags into the flour jar,

The same child who landed her foot in a mud puddle and mud-caked her new tennis shoes and everything else in a 4-inch radius,

Who swung her arm around and hurt her sister (several times, several ways),

That I probably just need to

be. gracious.

I can teach, train, harp, but in the end,

she needs grace.

a hug, a gentle reminder or request,

And we need her.

Because giving grace to someone else is a grace itself to us.

And because she so easily gives grace when we commit one of these same mistakes.
